Greetings

The Korean Society of Interpretation and Translation Studies was established in April 1998when a group of like-minded interpreters, translators, researchers and professors came together and decided that it was time that an academic society specializing exclusively in interpretation and translation studies was established in Korea. At that time, though there were language and linguistics-related academic societies in Korea, one devoted to translation studies was lacking. In view of the unique nature of our field of study, it was important to create an academic society that could embrace the professional aspect of our studies together with research.

During the past 13 years, the KSCI has managed to place Conference Interpretation and Translation, its domestic journal, on the Korean Citation Index while continuing to publish FORUM, its international journal co-published with ESIT, as well. By publishing both a domestic and an international journal, the KSCI offers its members a wider perspective of research trends around the world.

In the future, the KSCI will continue to help the general public have a better understanding of the profession of conference interpreters and translators and at the same time, enhance international cooperation amongst scholars and researchers in the field of conference interpretation and translation around the world.

I hope that this homepage will serve as a useful tool for our members and other researchers to share information and knowledge.

I thank you in advance for your continued interest, encouragement and support.
